Florida outside linebacker Fred Griggs, who is being pursued by Grambling, has been offered by FBS-Sun Belt program Middle Tennessee.
Griggs, (5-10, 182; 4.8 in the 40; James Rickards HS, Tallahassee, FL) is the No. 149-ranked OLB in the nation, and a two-star recruit. He planned to visit Middle this week.
As a junior, Griggs made 90 tackles (including 20 for a loss), three interceptions, five pass breakups and nine forced fumbles. Last year, he added 89 tackles and 3 interceptions to go with rushing for 480 yards and 10 touchdowns, and 73 receiving yards.
“Griggs is an active defensive football player that has exceptional range and runs very well,” according to ESPN Insider. “He has decent size but could use some bulk and overall strength to go with his athletic feet. He refuses to get blocked by slipping under, spinning or running by blockers.”
Griggs, who carries a 3.1 GPA, has also expressed interest in Duke, Florida State, South Florida and Illinois, among others.
