Bethune-Cookman, Grambling still splitting top votes in HBCU polls

Things remained largely unchanged at the top of the national polling for historically black college football programs, with Bethune-Cookman and Grambling switching out at either No. 1 or 2.

Grambling tops the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College Football Poll and the BoxToRow.com/BASN FCS HBCU Coaches Top 10.

Bethune-Cookman, meanwhile, was No. 1 in the Heritage Sports Radio Network Top 10 poll while the Top 3 — Bethune, Grambling and South Carolina State — remained the same in the Dr. Cavil’s HBCU Major Division Football Top 10.

Both Bethune-Cookman and Grambling moved up in The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25, to No. 11 and No. 21 respectively.

Florida A&M joins the Sheridan poll, and Alcorn State moved into the HSRN rankings. Alabama State appears on the Dr. Cavil’s list for the first time, as well.

Texas Southern, quietly moving to 5-3 after besting Mississippi Valley, sits at No. 4 on both the Heritage Sports Radio Network and Dr. Cavil’s polls, No. 5 on BoxToRow.com/BASN and at No. 11 in the Sheridan rankings.

Jackson State is at either No. 4 or 5 among HBCUs. Hampton predictably slid after dropping a game against upstart Old Dominion.
